Alexandra Jesse (PI)

Dr. Jesse investigates how humans recognize speech from hearing and seeing a speaker. She has received a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2005. She then worked as a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics, The Netherlands, before joining the UMass faculty in 2010. Dr. Jesse is also an Executive Board member of the Auditory-Visual Speech Association (AVISA). CV

Current Lab Members
is a graduate student in Neuroscience & Behavior doctoral program whose research interests are focused on multimodal processing and selective attention.
is double majoring in Linguistics with a concentration in Psychology and Communication Disorders. She also is the producer of UMass’ premier long form improv troupe, Toast! Improv. After graduation, she plans of pursuing her masters degree in Speech Pathology and working with older adults.
is a junior studying Communication Disorders with minors in Psychology and Linguistics. After graduating, she hopes to attend graduate school for her Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology working with children in a hospital setting.
is majoring in Communication Disorders with a minor in Psychology. After graduating she plans to attend Graduate school to get her doctorate in Audiology. Rachel hopes to start her own pediatric audiology practice one day.
is majoring in Communication Disorders with a minor in Spanish and Psychology. After graduating, she plans on attending graduate school to obtain her Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology. She hopes to one day work with children as a Speech Therapist.
is majoring in Communication Disorders with a minor in education. After graduating, she plans on attending graduate school for her Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology.
is studying Communication Disorders with a minor in Psychology. She is also a distance runner for the UMass Cross Country and Track Team. After she completes her undergraduate degree, she plans on attending graduate school to obtain a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology.
